About Title IX

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX) prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance. Title IX states “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Upshur County Schools Title IX Coordinator has been designated at the initial receiver of all discrimination based compliants. However, such compliants may be assigned to be handled by another department of office.

Title IX Personnel

District Title IX Coordinator - Matthew Sisk, Director of Safety & Technology

Matthew Sisk is an experienced administrator in the prohibition of sex discrimination. Prior to serving as the district level Title IX Coordinator for Upshur County Schools, Mr. Sisk was the Title IX Coordinator at Alderson Broaddus University from June 2014 - June 2021. Prior to joining the Title IX team at Alderson Broaddus University Mr. Sisk was a Title IX Investigator for Glenville State College from 2011 - 2012.

District Title IX Deputy Coodinator - Kasey Baisden

Kasey Baisden is an experienced k-12 adminsitrator who is dedicated to providing students equal opportunities. Prior to becoming Director of Student Services, Mrs. Baisden was both a Director of Special Education and principal.

Upshur County Schools Superintendent - Christine Miller

County Wide Training - All Employees

All employees of Usphur County underwent training in sexual harassment by verifying that they have reviewed the current copy of the county policy prohibiting sexual discrimination.
