President and CEO of Wendling’s Food Service spoke to the Business & Marketing class at Buckhannon-Upshur High School. The class was writing about supply chain management and channel distribution in the recent business environment and Mr. Wendling was able to share their processes that allow them to distribute 100,000 pounds of food a day, serving over 1,000 customers across 6 states.
Students were able to hear about how Wendling’s hire new employees as well as train and manage their business. Mr. Wendling shared how he uses KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and how their decisions affect their P&L statements (profit & loss). The local business is growing and they are always looking for new talent.
Mr. Wendling went on to share the story of this 110-year-old business and the state of the current food service industry. Wendling’s Food Service is a proud West Virginia independent food service business, providing food and supplies totaling over 70 million and traveling around 1 million miles every year.
