These future educators heard remarks from distinguished guests which included Governor Jim Justice and First Lady Cathy Justice, Vice President of Milken Education Awards Stephanie Bishop, Deputy State Superintendent Dr. Sara Stankus, as well as WV State Board Member Debra Sullivan. Students also participated in a Grow Your Own student panel and other interactive activities led by 16 distinguished WV educators who have received the National Milken Award, an honor that is known as the "Oscars of Teaching."
Students attending the event (many of whom are pictured below) included Tiarah Spotloe, Angelica Black, Shalayna Tenney, Krista Posey, Zander Swearengin, Elayna Propst, Caleb Ryan, Brandon Eskew, and Carrigan Perry.
The planning committee for this event was co-chaired by B-UHS social studies teacher, Brian Allman, who was named West Virginia's Milken Educator in 2019. Students were also accompanied to the event by Assistant Principal Brandon Williams and School Counselor Suzie McCoy.
