Personal Finance at Lunch

Personal Finance is considered one of the most important classes to take in school! Students in Mrs. Dean’s personal finance classes gain skills and knowledge on real world topics. These subjects include banking, credit, loans, taxes, budgeting, saving, and consumerism. In many of these units, students work with the same documents that are utilized in the business world. They learn to complete a W4, read a W2, complete a form 1040, write checks, complete a checkbook reconciliation, work with loans and interest, read paychecks, and check out the stock market and investing. Financial Literacy Month encourages a focus on financial literacy and access to financial education, services and products. Our school is fortunate to offer this important class to our upper grades! To help draw attention to this month, Rhianna Orsburn helped at lunch by spinning the wheel and asking students questions on financial topics. Students , like Tyler Garver, were able to receive a small prize for their answers! More classroom activities are planned for the remainder of the month.
