
Upshur County Schools COVID-19 Updates Effective September 6, 2022
Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 or the Flu, should stay home from school for 5 days. The positive test result will be Day 1 of the absence. Please be reminded that a doctor’s note is needed for excused absences which exceed three days. Upshur County Schools will follow CDC recommendations requesting that individuals who test positive wear a mask when they return to school.

The Federal Communication Commission program has launched the Affordable Connectivity Program for qualifying families. Eligible households may receive up to a $30/month discount on internet services and associated equipment rentals or Enhanced Tribal Benefit, which allows for a discount up to $75/month if the household is on qualifying Tribal benefits. Summer Learning Academies have started in Upshur County Schools! All students are welcome to attend Monday through Friday from 8:00am-1:00pm. Bus transportation is available and drivers will run their normal route and approximately 15 minutes later than their normal schedule. Students who attend are eligible for passes to the Upshur County pool and WV Wildlife Center. Don't miss the opportunity to attend June 7-24!

WVU Medicine/St. Joseph Hospital will be hosting free physicals for High School and Middle School athletes on Tuesday, June 8th from 5pm to 7pm.
The location for physicals will be on the 1st floor of the medical building. This is located at the foot of hill of St. Josephs across the street from the Catholic Church. This is being hosted by Dr. Ware and Staff.
All forms needed for High School and Middle School athletes will be provided.

Just a reminder that there is no school on Tuesday, May 10th, due to Election Day.


The Upshur County Board of Education voted to update mask protocols at the meeting on February 22nd. As a result of this approval, face coverings will be optional, based on personal or family choice, in schools and on buses. This change is effective Wednesday, February 23rd. Thank you!

At 10:00am on February 16th, Upshur County’s status on the WVDHHR Alert System changed to the Gold level. Under the Gold level, there is no mask mandate in schools, however, masks are required on school buses. The change is effective February 17th.


At 10:00am on February 12th, Upshur County’s status on the WVDHHR Alert System changed to the Orange level. Under the Orange level, facial coverings are required in schools and on school buses. The change is effective Monday, February 14th.

Upshur County Schools will dismiss at 12:30pm today, January 28th, due to inclement weather.
